Together, We Rise.

TheGifted Arts (TGA) has always been a place where dreams are nurtured, talents are discovered, and confidence is built. The Lassiter family embodies everything TGA stands for—a legacy of growth, creativity, and transformation.

Frederick Lassiter (DJ 9ine): From Local Talent to Global Stage

For Frederick, as an 8th grader, TGA was the starting point of a flourishing career as a DJ and music producer.

“TGA gave me my first chance to learn and perform as a DJ,” Frederick says. “That foundation led me to a career where I now perform for audiences of 15,000.

The mindset instilled in me at TGA—creativity, confidence, and excellence—continues to guide me every day.”

Frederick’s message to young artists considering TGA is simple: “Just do it. TGA equips you with the skills and mindset to pursue your dreams.”

Wanda Lassiter: A Mother’s Gratitude and Commitment

As a mother and longtime board member, Wanda Lassiter has witnessed firsthand how TGA’s programs have shaped her three children: Frederick, Michael, and Niah.

“TGA provided my kids with a platform to grow and utilize their talents—some they knew about, others they hadn’t yet discovered,” Wanda shares. “I’ve seen them transform into confident, capable young adults ready to take on the world.”

Her professional background in nonprofit leadership and passion for the arts make her an advocate for TGA’s mission. “Seeing the program’s impact on my family and other children makes serving on the board an honor. My hope for TGA is to continue offering these transformative experiences and secure steady funding to grow its reach.”

Michael Lassiter: A Multifaceted Creative Takes Flight

Michael, a ten year plus veteran in TGA and now a college freshman, is off to the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York to major in Advertising and Marketing Communications, credits TGA with equipping him with the skills and confidence to pursue his dreams.

“The leadership and professional development I gained at TGA taught me how to navigate life with purpose,” Michael reflects. “It prepared me to make bold moves, like transferring colleges to align with my career goals, how to stand powerfully in every room, knowing how to navigate professional situations to produce an outcome you want, and simply how to communicate and think on a higher frequency.”

His aspirations include becoming a trailblazer in fashion and entertainment, a dream sparked during his years at TGA. When asked about his hopes for TGA’s future, he states that “I hope TGA evolves into a premier arts academy that continues focusing on Black youth, while setting new standards for performance and training.”
